5th Week SPECIAL CLASSES
ADDITIONAL CLASSES will be held on February 27th, 28th and March 1st as part of a "5th Week SPECIAL". Classes will be held at the same times as usual, but with a different format. For either Bachata Mondays, Salsa Tuesdays or Salsa Thursdays class will consist of a 3 song warmup of Merengue, Bachata and Salsa, followed by a 45 minute multi-level pattern taught by lead instructors. To help you get the most out of the classes you will have an additional hour of practice dancing to DJ music on Mondays or on Tuesdays and Thursdays additional 2 hours of practice dancing! It's a part class, part mini-social to keep you dancing, practicing and socializing during the 5th week.
For SPECIAL Salsa Tuesday and Thursday the first hour which includes warmup and pattern will be $15, 2nd hour $10 and 3rd hour $5, all either online or in class. For SPECIAL Bachata Monday the second hour is $5. You may use your registration hours towards these classes and one registration hour will be debited per night attended, no matter if you stay 1-3 hours.
If you are an AA pass holder for February or March your 5TH Week SPECIAL classes will be FREE all week long!

Workshops Starting in February
Our incredible Workshops start in February with Ladies Styling taught by Ruth Caspary and Yvette Burrell. This is a unique chance for the ladies to learn more about body movement, footwork and hand placement, practical solutions to adding flair to your basic Salsa moves. About our Salsa and Bachata Classes
Our Beginning to Pre-Advanced Salsa dance classes are taught as progressive month-long series that meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You will learn to dance the basics in one hour! Every week, we briefly review what we’ve covered and this repetition will support your learning & enhance your understanding of basic technique and rhythm. You will learn foundation steps which develop into mini-patterns which become the building blocks for longer, more intricate patterns. In Level 2 and 2.5 (Intermediate and Pre-Advanced) we begin a new choreographed pattern each month that will challenge you to improve your technique, increase your understanding of how to put moves together and add some style- all in a fun and comfortable setting with other friendly Salsa dancers! But don't worry, you can always drop in at any time if you want to try it out first. Our NEW Bachata classes are held on Mondays at 7pm for Beginners and 8pm for Intermediates. Challenge yourself and try this popular and sensual dance - it's easy to get started! Bachata classes are also progressive and will explore different styles such as Dominican, Traditional and Moderna. Guest instructors will teach periodically.

Salsa Dancing is HOT! Known for its smooth moves and set to vibrant and energetic Latin music, Salsa dancing remains very popular here in the Bay Area! If you want to learn how to Salsa dance, or are looking for classes in the East Bay, check out our class schedule where you can find Beginner through Performance level classes and our specialty Workshops as well. Our classes are taught in a great space at the Lake Merritt Dance Center in Oakland, also known as the Veteran's Hall. There is plenty of parking and it's centrally located across from Lake Merritt.
No Partner Required! Classes are ongoing and we start a new series every month. Drop-ins are welcome any time!
Monthly Friday Night Social
Our popular monthly Salsa Social happens every 4th Friday of the month. There is a Beginner Salsa lesson at 7 pm and a Beginner Bachata lesson at 8 pm, both taught by our SWJ Instructors. We offer tasty snacks, refreshments, performances, great danceable music, cool ambiance and more! The cost is only $10 at door, $12 online, unless specified otherwise. Children 12 and under enter FREE with guardian!
Our socials have gained a reputation for being a fun and supportive atmosphere where everyone gets to dance. Come on out, practice all you know, meet new dancers and DANCE! 9pm until midnight dancing to hot Salsa and sensual Bachata music DJ'd by Juan Gil and other local club DJs.
All Access Passes
The All Access Pass - This pass allows you to participate in up to 24 hours in a month of SWJ Beginner through Advanced classes on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for only $130 a month. You will receive a card with a changing monthly stamp on it in class. Feel free to explore all the Levels to get practice and a challenge! The All Access Pass gives you the most value and hours with the best Salsa instruction in the entire Bay Area! BACHATA MONDAYS ARE INCLUDED!
