Juan Gil is the creator and founder of Salsa With Juan. With over two decades of teaching experience, Juan is the master instructor and "teacher of teachers." His passion for dance is only matched by his commitment to empowering his students, guiding them from shy beginners to confident dancers—both on the dance floor and in life.

The transformation his students experience on the dance floor often extends into their everyday lives, helping them become more confident in all they do.

Juan has created a system of teaching and a time-tested curriculum that makes it possible for anyone to learn to dance. Yes, anyone! Salsa With Juan has welcomed people from all walks of life—regardless of age or experience level, including those who once thought salsa dancing was beyond their reach. Through Juan's proven approach, countless students have turned those dreams into reality.

Anyone who has taken a class with Juan knows that learning with him is about more than just dance steps. His quick wit, sense of humor, and genuine enthusiasm create an environment where students can relax, laugh, and have fun while learning. Many students arrive feeling nervous or intimidated, only to leave smiling, more confident, and excited for the next class.

His methods are so effective that his instructors, co-instructors, and mentors have all adopted his system, ensuring a consistent, high-quality learning experience for every student.

Born in Guatemala, Juan later moved to the United States, where his teaching journey began in the Los Angeles area. In the early 2000s, he relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he played a key role in shaping and growing the salsa dance community long before salsa became widely popular in the region. Salsa With Juan taught throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for more than two decades before relocating to Nashville in 2026, where Juan looks forward to transforming even more lives through dance.

Juan’s teaching journey spans the globe, with workshops and performances in Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Alaska, across the United States, Europe, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and Latin America. His extensive experience in the dance world has shaped a teaching approach that is both practical and transformative.

In addition to teaching, Juan performs, coaches, judges, and creates choreography for special events, including weddings, quinceañeras, and other celebrations.

Juan is also experienced in event management, corporate team-building events, DJ services, and serving as a Master of Ceremonies. Throughout his career, he has been involved with numerous Salsa Congresses, Bachata festivals, and Salsa festivals, contributing to the growth and success of dance communities around the world.
